EU-US ANTITRUST CO-OPERATION

A joint committee of EU and US experts is to be set up to consider improved procedures for approving mergers and acquisitions which have a transatlantic effect. It will start work by the end of 1999 and deal particularly with such issues as the exchange of confidential information between the US and EU authorities, time limits and improvement of co-operation.
