EUROPEAN COURT

The ECJ has just acquired its first woman Judge, Fidelma Macken, an Irish barrister. The only other woman member of the Court in its entire history was Mme Simone Rozes, who was Advocate General in 1981-84, and left to become the equivalent of Chief Justice of France, i.e. President of the Cour de Cassation. The CFI has two women Judges, both Nordic: Virpi Tiili of Finland and Pernilla Lindh of Sweden.
